Will Smith is gearing up for a major return to the big screen with two long-awaited sequels. During a Twitch stream with xQc, the Oscar-winning actor confirmed these two stars for I Am Legend 2 and Hancock 2. Read more inside.
Smith announced that I Am Legend 2 is officially moving forward on the stream, and this time he’s bringing Michael B. Jordan along for the ride.
Smith & Jordan Join Forces for ‘I Am Legend 2’
Smith revealed that he and Jordan recently spent a week together, working through character development and discussing the direction of the film.
“That’s a real thing,” Smith said. “I’d love to work with that dude.”
For years, fans have speculated about a potential sequel to I Am Legend, especially given the film’s alternate ending, which left Smith’s character, Robert Neville, alive. It seems the new movie may follow that timeline instead of the theatrical version, where Neville sacrifices himself.
Smith has been teasing the sequel for quite some time. In December 2023, he revealed that he and Jordan were already discussing the project and that a script had been submitted. His excitement was evident in a 2023 Instagram post, where he joked about feeling like the last man on Earth while walking through the quiet streets of Zürich, Switzerland.
Zendaya Eyed for ‘Hancock 2’
Smith also dropped another bombshell that a sequel to his 2008 anti-hero film Hancock is in the works. While details remain under wraps, he described the project as “really cool” and revealed that Zendaya is being approached for a role.
If cast, Zendaya would join Smith in a world where superheroes are deeply flawed, misunderstood, and struggling with their own identities. The first Hancock explored Smith’s reluctant hero dealing with his own demons while discovering he wasn’t alone in his abilities. It’s unclear if Charlize Theron’s character will return or if Zendaya will introduce a new super-powered figure into the mix.
The Return of a Blockbuster Icon
With both I Am Legend 2 and Hancock 2 in development, Smith is making a major comeback in the action-thriller space. While no release dates have been announced, these sequels are already generating major buzz.
