FACT CHECK – On Friday, Erykah Badu announced that she took a COVID-19 test that gave her both a positive and negative test result.
Badu took to Twitter and shared, “No symptoms. Was tested for COVID. Same machine. Left nostril positive. Right nostril negative. Maybe they need to call Swiss Beats so they can do a versus between them. Funny thing is, Dr. ONLY reported the positive result. What the fack is goin on here. Rapid Test. $$$$ smh.”
She continued to explain to her followers that this was a routine test that she takes before going on set. Badu later followed up with that this was the third test she has taken within 24 hours.
“This is my third rapid test in 24 hours. SMH. It’s routine to take c19 test before a livestream broadcast for all band and crew. Earlier I took 2 and one was positive the other neg in separate nostrils ?? We need to investigate these tests further. I want my $ back .”
If you recall, CDC states that some test can be both positive and negative.
As previously reported, COVID-19 cases are on the rise. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New York would have new restrictions, implementing a new curfew. He wrote, “New York follows the science. We know indoor gatherings and parties are a major source of COVID spread. To slow the spread, NYS will limit indoor gatherings at private residences to 10 people. This limit takes effect Friday at 10 p.m.”
On Thursday, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced that the city of Chicago has issued a stay-at-home advisory and new restrictions for gatherings as they work to decrease the number of COVID cases. The advisory will officially go into effect starting Monday, November 16th.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Texas had surpassed 1 million cases. According to CBS News, the state of Texas has reportedly become the first state to surpass 1 million coronavirus cases. This has been determined through data recorded by John Hopkins University. Based on the data, Texas’ case numbers started to increase in October after staying relatively level throughout September.
