Jamie Foxx made a triumphant appearance at the 2025 Golden Globes, radiating positivity and gratitude after a near-death experience last year. The Oscar-winning actor and singer opened up to Extra TVâs Billy Bush about how his life has transformed since suffering a brain bleed and stroke. Read more inside.
Foxx shared more insight on his health complications in his latest Netflix special, What Had Happened Was⌠which was released on the streaming platform Dec. 10, 2024. He has since seemed to change his perspective on life overall. After making one of his first appearances back in the limelight, fans were pleased to see him celebrating his peers at the Golden Globes this year in good health and even better spirits.
âWhen you dream about what you want to be, you only dream about the good things,â Jamie reflected with Extraâs Bush. âThe career, the houseâyou never dream tragedy. When tragedy happens in a real way, you need solid family and friends.â
Foxx also expressed deep gratitude for his daughters, Corinne Marie Foxx and Anelise Bishop, who were by his side throughout his recovery.
âThe two ladies that are with me tonight held me down in a way that is hard to interpret in these settings,â Foxx shared. âYou have to show up and really take over everything, and she [Corinne] did that, and thatâs why Iâm here.â
Now, Foxx sees life through a new lens. He described his refreshed perspective, saying, âYou take a picture on your cell phone and you hit that filter, and it brightens upâthatâs the way my life looks now.â
The actor emphasized that he has âno bad daysâ and no longer takes life for granted. Looking deeply on his journey, he revealed a powerful moment of connection with his faith.
âWhen it happened, I said, âIf I am able to get past this and God spoke to me in a way, you know, when youâre Hollywood, you know, God sometimes slips away,â Foxx called Godâs message to him. âWhen I spoke to him, he says, âI need you to sit here for a second, but when you get back out there, I ainât telling you to be an angel, but you have a different thing.ââ
With a newfound appreciation for life and family, Foxx continues to inspire, reminding everyone of the power of resilience and gratitude. So happy to see it!
