We finally know who Trump is running with in the upcoming election. On Monday (July 15) at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, former President Donald Trump just announced that J.D. Vance would be his vice-presidential candidate.
So who is the controversial Republican Senator from Ohio? Letâs dive in âŚ
Vance, hails from Jackson, Kentucky, and Middletown, Ohio. He clawed his way to prominence after his 2016 memoir, âHillbilly Elegy.â Oh boy. The colorful book details his upbringing marked by poverty, abuse and mother who battled drug addiction. Then Vance spent a lot of his formative years under the care of his grandmother, whom he called Mamaw. Sounds relatable, right? Maybe heâs an everyday, American? Not so fast.Â
Here comes his politics and views âŚÂ
In 2022, Vance won his seat in the U.S. Senate by defeating former Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan.Â
Get this, Vance like many Republicans initially was a vocal critic of Trump. He called likening him to âAmericaâs Hitler.â
Full stop. He called Trump HITLER. But now heâs Donaldâs VP choice? What is going on here?Â
But again like his colleagues on the right, Vance reversed his stance on Trump as he prepared for his Senate run. He needed to kiss the ring to get ahead and that he did to ultimately secure Trumpâs endorsement.
Vance, is a HUGE opponent of abortion. Read that again.
He has called for government incentives to encourage childbearing. Sounds very âHand Maidenâs Tale-ish.â But after Ohio and other statesâ pro-abortion access votes, he seemed to acknowledged that Republicans must âaccept that people do not want blanket abortion bans.â
Now about his views on democracy â something we should all be scared of.
Vance expressed staunch support for Trumpâs ridiculous claims about the 2020 election being stolen. Vance even said had he been vice president, he would have helped overturn the election results. PLEASE READ THAT AGAIN.
Vance has even raised funds for January 6 rioters. Wild. He then demanded a criminal investigation into a Washington Post columnist being critical of Trump. So about the whole first amendment thing. Maybe we should be scared over here too.Â
Whatâs super wild is he just attributed the assassination attempt on Trump to Democratsâ rhetoric, of course without any evidence whatsoever.Â
Check this out, during a podcast interview, he suggested Trump should âfire every single mid-level bureaucratâ in the U.S. government and replace them with loyalists, even proposing that Trump ignore judicial rulings that interfere with this plan. âYou stand before the country, like Andrew Jackson did, and say the chief justice has made his ruling, now let him enforce it,â Vance said.
Yes, he said ALL OF THAT.
What does this all mean?
JD Vance is a scary candidate, no matter where you sit on the aisle of politics. Now heâs hand in hand with Donald J. Trump, fresh off his fist pump photo after the âassassination attemptâ on his life. Seems like the momentum is building for the 34-time felon running for reelection, now the only question is what is the other side going to do about it? And more importantly, no matter who you support VOTE, VOTE and VOTE.The post Former President Trump Taps JD Vance as Running Mate for Vice President; Who is the Ohio Republican Senator? first appeared on The Source. The post Former President Trump Taps JD Vance as Running Mate for Vice President; Who is the Ohio Republican Senator? appeared first on The Source.
