Many fans were upset to learn that the upcoming fourth season of the CW hit series “Black Lightning” will be the final season. China McClain, one of the show’s stars, revealed that she learned about the show coming to an end with the rest of the world. However, she said that even if the show were to still go on, this would have been her last season anyway.
She says that from now on she will be doing God’s work. She didn’t get into too many details about her next steps for the future, but she sent her love to the cast and crew of “Black Lightning,” and said that she cannot wait for this new chapter in her life.
In a lengthy video, China said, “There’s a lot that has happened over this quarantine, and I’m not talking about the PC side of it. These things are real, these people that are dying and the way of the world now, it’s real. And all of this is an illusion, this industry for what it is, and everything that people look to and praise it’s not important. God is moving me in more than one way than just this show. It’s bigger than this show. I’m doing God’s work now and I’m not doing anything else.”

As we previously reported, the fourth season of “Black Lightning” will be premiering on the CW in early 2021, but unfortunately, that will be the show’s final season.
Prior to the news of the show’s cancellation, it was announced that the “Painkiller” spinoff received a backdoor pilot and would be a part of the upcoming season.
Salim Akil, the showrunner and executive producer said, “Thank you to the phenomenal cast, writers, and crew without whom none of this would’ve been possible. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve been able to do and the moments we’ve been able to create in bringing DC’s first African-American family of superheroes to life for the culture. While Season Four may be the end of one journey, I’m extremely excited to usher in a new chapter and continued collaboration with The CW as we tell the story of ‘Painkiller.’”
